Accessibility Issues

Accessible Venues? Have Your Say...
Category: General
Posted by: Anonymous

Rapid technological advances in electric wheelchair and mobility scooter design has made access to hitherto inaccessible areas possible.

SSDF believes that in future, venues should be assessed for use by following classes of mobility devices and designated accordingly.

Class 1: Manually operated wheelchairs.

Class 2: Electrically powered wheel chairs/scooters for use on pavements, top speed 4mph.

Class 3: Mobility scooters, max speed 8mph for use on roads and pavements.

We would like your views on accessible access to facilities in and around your town.  We are particularly interested in those of you who use mobility scooters to access venues.  If you have any issues you wish to share with us, please email/ write or telephone.  Our details can be found top right corner of this page.
